helllo. I think you are very good at story telling but sometimes you should take some word from the children. In the lesson you always speeak. You should give a chance to the students.

My World Storytelling Day

I've just got back from my storytelling session in Arenys de Mar. I had a really good time and although one day ahead of its official day I feel I've done my bit in marking world storytelling day here in Spain. I told The Gigantic Turnip which fitted well with the theme this year of neighbours and the time of year, spring time for planting. There were not as many children as hoped as today they had a day off school and therefore were out of there normal routine of school and then library. The ch… Continue

Gunpowder, Treason and Plot!

It’s been a long time since I celebrated Guy Fawkes Night as I’ve lived in Spain for thirteen years but tonight I enjoyed telling my son all about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. It’s a very exciting story where the conspirators make a deadly plan, a dramatic escape but come to a gruesome end. The Gunpowder, Treason and Plot website makes an excellent resource for telling this historical story.

Guy Fawkes Night or Bonfire Night is celebrated annually on 5th November. It commemorates the Gunp… Continue

Halloween in Sant Pol de Mar (Barcelona, Spain) 2008

I remember as a child on Halloween, imagining witches flying through the night, and as I celebrated my son’s first Halloween, I became one of those witches! It was a perfect night, with a high swirling wind, blowing through the trees and the crashing of the waves on the beach. (Thankfully it had stopped raining, which had been my son’s concern for most of the day) We quickly got changed into our disfraces; Witch and Skeleton as my husband helped with last minute make-up.

We rushed down to my fr… Continue

My good friend Baba has a podcast with Spanish and English stories told one after the other - Lookup "Baba the Storyteller" in iTunes. His most recent shows have the Spanish storytelling in them.
Thanks for the sweet feedback -
If you get a chance read the blog post on how to get the most out of your NING - 50% of wtich you are already doing.
Now that I know somebody is listening - maybe I'll get out those shows that are back logged. ;-)

Hola Serena,
Thanks for your message.
Fantastic! There was nobody representing Spain this year in Oslo. It would really be great for the other countries in Europe, to know more about the multiplicity of developments of aspects of storytelling in Spain.
I would be very happy to have your email adress in order to send you informations.

Thanks for your comment. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how inspirational I have found your podcasts from the Art of Storytelling with Children. I few years ago I looked at using storytelling in English language teaching but never did anything about it. This year with time to develop something new I went back to storytelling and traditional stories and began researching storytelling on the internet. I have been totally thrilled and inspired by what I have found. I hope with the encouragement you and your guests have given me I can carry the message forward to teachers here in Barcelona and show them how wonderful and beneficial storytelling can be. Thank you and keep up the good work!
