A national conversation on the Art of Storytelling with Children
90° on a summer afternoon. + or - 50 kids, ranging in age from 3.5 to 11 years old, sit in a busy basement with bells ringing and intercom announcing and other students and staff walking through. Not optimum conditions for listening but this is a story that gets through. Conejito !
By the end summer I have worked at nearly 45 sites as a storyteller for Read Boston, a literacy program sponsored by the City of Boston. My performances are 20 - 40 minutes depending on many variables. Dealing well with variables and being flexible are essential qualities for success. Flexibility aside, I enjoy the challenge and love the energy of the children and communities we serve. This is my 10th year with the Storymobile.
The ReadBoston Storymobile will be visiting nearly 80 locations throughout the city providing kids with fun storytelling events and free books. The program runs weekly for 6 weeks.
